00 / Software in the loop

The code is real.
Everything else is modelled.

Run your production ECU software against a simulated vehicle. From week one, on any laptop.

01 / The window

Testing starts before the hardware does.

Control software exists long before there is a board to run it on. A virtual loop is the one available in that window, and it does not close when the hardware arrives.

SIL

Available from the first build that compiles, and it stays available after the hardware arrives.

Hardware in the loop

Available once there is a unit to put on a bench.

Programme phases are the general shape of a development programme, not a Validative process. Where the handover falls on yours is a question for an engineer.

02 / What is real

The same binary, the same control logic, the same calibrations.

The production binary stays real. The vehicle around it is modelled.

Models are approximations. This moves most testing earlier. It does not replace the bench.

03 / Why teams run it

Why teams run it.

01

Run thousands

Cost is compute, not calendar.

02

No bench, no queue

Everyone runs at the same time.

03

The same tests, later

The same suite runs on real silicon.

04 / Capacity

One bench. One engineer.
One simulated target. Everyone.

Add capacity with simulation. Keep the bench for what only hardware can prove.

 One runs. Five wait.

05 / Continuity

Nothing is rewritten.

Tests that need hardware are marked. A simulated run skips them instead of reporting a pass it did not earn.

06 / See it run

Twelve minutes. One real bug. No slides.

A real function. A bug we added on purpose. Found before any hardware.
